Britain agreed to Somaliland's 1960 independence date. [fact]

All Britain sought for herself, apart from measures to protect the pension and compensation rights of British personnel, was the continuation of the lease for the BBC Middle Eastern Service relay station at Berbera. This caused no difficulty, and the conference, which was conducted in a most cordial atmosphere, was told on 4 May by the Colonial Secretary that his government had decided to arrange for the Protectorate to become independent by I July, 1960.
