Scientific socialism served Somali political aims. [fact]
Although Lenin, Mao Tse-Tung and the peripatetic Kim Il Sung (to say nothing of Mussolini) all had some influence on the homespun philosophy of development and power constructed by the Siyad regime, local political realities suggest that 'Scientific Siyadism' might be an appropriate description of the Somali experience at this time. Certainly socialism was here a means rather than an end.
