The government’s Roman-script newspaper drew hostile public response. [fact]
In March 1957, the government had brought out a Somali news-sheet ('The Somali Messenger', Wargeyska Somaliyed) written in Somali transcribed in a simple but accurate Roman script. But popular reaction was so unfavourable that after two editions this was withdrawn.
