The new policy of allowing anti-government statements to be published in the government press and broadcast over government radio was initiated by the Prime Minister and his Minister of Information Yusuf Aden Boukah. Heretofore, political developments in the capital were largely obfuscated and often well garbled by the time they reached the country side via the grape vine.
