Informal work dominated UEMOA city employment. [fact]
- Between 2001 and 2002, informal employment, which generally does not enjoy legal social protection, represented on average more than three-quarters of employment in the capitals of the UEMOA countries. More than half of urban workers received a monthly salary below the legal minimum wage, which ranged from 13,800 FCFA (21 euros) in Lomé to 39,000 FCFA (59 euros) in Dakar.
