This was a special elite force that was handpicked by Ibrahim Pasha himself; Vekayi-i Mɩsɩriyye, issue no. 172, on 13 S 1246 24 July 1831. It was disbanded by Abbas Pasha in 1849; Dhawat 5/61, on 23 S 1265 19 January 1849. It seems it was named after the French National Guard.
