While staying in the camp, the Pasha decided to invite various provincial governors from different parts of Egypt, ostensibly to report to him about the problems of conscripting soldiers as well as other administrative and financial matters. Having seen how impressive the new troops looked, the Pasha also wanted to impress his governors with his assembled troops so that "a true report of them might circulate through the country."
