Mehmed Ali justified rebellion for lack of acknowledgment from the Porte. [fact]

See, for example, S/5/51/2/1 on 5 s 1247/9 January 1832, from Mehmed Ali to the Sublime Porte in which he says that he had undertaken this dramatic step only after he had repeatedly complained to the Porte of 'Abdallah Pasha's activities and was not answered; "on the contrary I was completely forgotten (nesyen mensiyen)".

Pays off: "Mehmed Ali could not conceive of himself as rebelling against the sultan."
