The Hijaz campaign let Mehmed Ali rid himself of troublesome Albanians. [causal]
When the Sultan ordered Mehmed Ali to fight the Wahhabis in Arabia he was reluctant to agree to comply with the imperial order considering the amount of time and money that would have gone into fulfilling it. However, he realized that this would be a golden opportunity to get rid of many troublesome groups, foremost among whom were the Albanians. During the seven-year conflict against the Wahhabis he sent wave after wave of them to face their destiny in the barren deserts of Arabia, thus effectively ridding himself of their nuisance.
XREF: Connects to loc 433's claim that Albanian soldiers retained tribal structure resisting Pasha discipline, and to loc 192's claim that the Hijaz campaign served multiple hidden aims.
Builds on: "The Hijaz campaign served multiple hidden aims beyond suppressing Wahhabis."
