Despite constant and conspiring efforts to erase their existence. [contrarian]
Despite constant and conspiring efforts to erase their existence, black Muslims do exist, and they occupy the intersection where mounting anti-black racism and Islamophobia collide. Too often, non-black Muslim Americans only acknowledge the existence of black Muslims when celebrating their excellence, which, ironically, is often done in terms that entirely eclipse their blackness with their Muslimness.
