Identity crises lose force when attackers become admirers. [connection]

Real Roth is destabilized yet again. He had planned for a showdown over who was the rightful owner of their face and name and finds himself being adored instead. He is not able to muster the rage he had pre-scripted, but neither can he share Fake Roth’s familial delight in looking into a living mirror. After all, he has a name to protect. “Your name! Your name! Do you ever, ever, ever think of anything other than your fucking name!” Jinx demands.

XREF: Ties to the doppelgänger/double theme and the fragility of identity when faced with an adoring mirror-version, connecting to broader literature on narcissism and the self. FICTION: The scenario of pre-scripted rage thwarted by unexpected adoration is a rich emotional beat for character work.
