Chinese immigration to America remained strictly capped until 1965. [fact]

It took over sixty years for the Chinese Exclusion Act to finally be repealed (by the Magnuson Act of 1943). During World War II, China became a military ally. Nevertheless, at first the 1943 Magnuson Act still allowed only 105 Chinese immigrants every year into America, reflecting persisting anti-Chinese racism in the United States. It was not until the Immigration Act of 1965—which eliminated previous national-origins policy—that truly free Chinese immigration to the United States was allowed to begin.
