As evidence of this, I note that the Southern Poverty Law Center has determined that at least 120 anti-Sharia legislative bills have been introduced in forty-two states since 2010. In the year 2017 alone, there were at least thirteen different states which introduced anti-Sharia legislation; with the states of Texas and Arkansas actually passing some form of such legislation into law. In June 2017, Texas governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill 45, which prevented the use of “foreign laws” (the neutral-sounding vanilla term which actually refers to Sharia law) in domestic civil cases within the Lone Star State. This was signed into law just four months after Arkansas adopted similar legislation.
