A citizen reported hijab-wearer to police as suspicious mailer. [fact]
Maham, who wears the hijab, was putting her young kids to bed when there was a knock on the door. … And [the agent] said, "Someone jotted down your license plate, sir, as you left [the post office]." So someone went out of their way to not only watch me at the post office, but basically got our license plate number, turned it in to the police as someone suspicious mailing something, and then the police [were] able to track license and registration and find us.
XREF: Connects to surveillance and bias-by-race/religion themes, echoing how ordinary citizens police perceived outsiders.
