Muslim identity triggers reclassification that erases white privilege. [causal]

As all these narratives demonstrate, a Muslim identity is a racializing agent in the current political climate of the United States. When white people convert to Islam, they experience reracialization and lose their privileges associated with whiteness (Galonnier 2015; Moosavi 2015). For Arabs who are racially classified as white, they lose this status when they wear the hijab.

QUESTION: How does this reracialization process legally and socially function for converts vs. ethno-religious Arabs? Worth tracing the cited works.
