In the case of Muslims, the body has been manipulated in numerous ways. Foucault's argument that history exercises power on human bodies—and in some cases, invents subjects, including fantasies that are then attached to these bodies, called phantasms—helps us to understand why Muslim fictive bodies remain so powerful.
