Existing neuroenhancers, from the prescription serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors (Prozac) to the off-label uses of drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall, modafinil, or Provigil, are widely used as neuroenhancers by those with access to compliant physicians, to give the lagging brain that extra kick. “Daddy’s Little Helpers” have found a wide market as cognitive enhancements, when mere “human capital” can’t do the trick.
