Conflicts serve functions beyond their eventual resolution. [contrarian]

It is a philistine prejudice that conflicts and problems are dreamt up merely for the sake of their solution. Both in fact have additional tasks in the economy and history of life, tasks which they fulfill independently of their own solutions. Thus they exist in their own right, even if the future does not replace conflicts with their resolutions, but only replaces their forms and contents with others.

XREF: Sidesteps the common problem-solution framing in many fields, echoing systems views where frictions have structural roles.
