Religious service attendance predicts lower high school dropout rates [causal]

Frequency of attendance at religious services, which is itself a measure of social capital through intergenerational closure, is strongly related to dropout rate, with 19.5% of public school students who rarely or never attend dropping out compared with 9.1% of those who attend often. But this effect exists apart from, and in addition to, the effect of the school's religious affiliation.

XREF: Connects to social capital theory and measures of community cohesion beyond just institutional affiliation.
