Headlines proclaimed, “Two Years Later, Google Solves ‘Racist Algorithm’ Problem by Purging ‘Gorilla’ Label from Image Classifier”; “Google ‘Fixed’ Its Racist Algorithm by Removing Gorillas from Its Image-Labeling Tech”; and “Google Images ‘Racist Algorithm’ Has a Fix But It’s Not a Great One.”
