Joint state action trades sovereignty for increased systemic influence. [causal]
One aspect of the dialectical nature of globalisation is the “push and pull” between tendencies towards centralisation inherent in the reflexivity of the system of states on the one hand and the sovereignty of particular states on the other. Thus, concerted action between countries in some respects diminishes the individual sovereignty of the nations involved, yet by combining their power in other ways, it increases their influence within the state system.
DEFINE: Explains the dialectical tension in globalisation between state sovereignty and centralisation inherent to reflexivity.
