Bush publicly distanced Islam from terrorism after 9/11. [fact]
President Bush and others in his administration often projected publicly the position that the United States was not at war with Islam and that Islam should not be associated with violence and terrorism. Barely one week after 9/11, Bush gave a speech at the Islamic Center in Washington, DC, in which he stated this position clearly: “The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That’s not what Islam is all about. Islam is about peace.”
