Muslim Americans are fully integrated into US society despite discrimination [fact]

Esposito notes that data from the Pew Research Center and Gallup reveal the degree to which Muslim Americans are economically, educationally, and politically integrated into society. Muslim youth have high rates of college education and are economically equal to if not better off than many non-Muslims. Muslim Americans, in other words, are not operating as alienated outsiders in the United States, despite the bigotry and discrimination they experience. Polls indicate that they are full participants in American political and social life.

QUESTION: The integration data contrasts with the narrative of alienation pushed by anti-Muslim rhetoric — worth tracing the disconnect between lived integration and the perception of it.
