Theodore Bibliander braved authorities to publish the Qur'an. [fact]

In the quest to find prominent reformers, Protestant or Catholic, who took the time to learn more about Islam than most of their contemporaries, two figures stand out. He went to great lengths to publish an edition of the Qur'an in Basel based on the medieval Latin translation that had been commissioned by Peter the Venerable, despite the significant opposition he encountered from the authorities.
