In this section of the city, refugees from Iraq landed in that rare Muslim community where Shia Islam—the religion’s minority sect—was the majority. A place where Iraqi storefront mosques sit along Warren Avenue and processions honoring Shia martyrs march down Greenfield Road. A place where Shia Muslims like Hussein found sanctuary from the sectarian persecution inflicted by another Hussein, Saddam.
