I traveled in many of these countries and observed Washington's ever-present footprint in the policies of governments that saw their Muslim populations through the lens of the War on Terror and its prism of lies. These governments have adopted its rigid frames to carry out domestic crusades that further additional political objectives in their own lands. For governments in India and China, France and Myanmar, and regimes beyond and in between, Islamophobia has been wielded as a blunt weapon.
