The new War on Terror discourse was intellectually emaciated and obsolete, but as revitalized and repackaged by the likes of Samuel P. Huntington, it provided an undeniably powerful paradigm and potent language for a world in which the images of falling towers and bearded terrorists were seared deep in the imagination. Huntington’s “clash of civilizations,” to no surprise, “utterly stormed Washington” and curated the framing of the War on Terror.
