India restored only limited 2G internet to control Kashmiris [fact]
The blackout was not completely lifted in January 2020. In order to maintain control over the predominantly Muslim population of Kashmir and keep tabs on the "terrorists," India restored only limited (2G) internet service. That move by the Modi regime was another instance of image-doctoring, representing to the world that the blackout was lifted while concealing the challenges of carrying on with no access to social media, video communication, and a slow and often interrupted connection.
XREF: Relates to prior discussion of India's lockdown/isolation of Kashmir and the concept of image-doctoring as a governing tactic.
