India's 2019 citizenship law is more severe than Trump's ban. [fact]

On December 11, 2019—less than three months after Modi stumped with Trump in Texas—India enacted its very own "Muslim Ban." The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which many—including myself—compared to the executive order that President Trump signed and the Supreme Court later upheld, was more draconian and more destructive than its American counterpart. Its enactment hammered another nail in the coffin of the "promise" of Indian secularism.
