Myanmar erases Rohingya homes while repressing surviving residents [fact]
Today, Myanmar is building military bases where Rohingya Muslim homes and mosques once stood, the human rights organization Amnesty International claims. Those Rohingya Muslims who survived the massacres and sank their feet into the soil of their homeland and refused the call of the ocean “continue to suffer the most severe” restrictions and repression. Branded “illegal” by Islamophobic laws that exposed them to the very violence that claimed the lives of their loved ones and thrust others into distant corners of the globe to live—as best they could—as invisible transients and unwanted exiles.
