The force of Obama’s words crumbled along with new fronts of Orwellian aggression. While unfurling spellbinding oratory smoke screens, Obama deepened the wounds of the War on Terror and opened new ones. Behind the veil of progressivism, he deployed a nonstop fleet of drones that killed scores in Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan—all Muslim-majority countries. These attacks flouted common principles of international law and wiped scores of innocent Muslims from the face of the earth. In addition to the drones, Obama carried forward the war in Iraq, established and expanded counter-radicalization policing, and failed to close the detention camps in Guantanamo.
