The War on Terror enabled Myanmar's Rohingya genocide. [causal]

The War on Terror, and that inescapable label with which it branded Muslims everywhere, opened the floodgates for genocide in Myanmar. A genocide driven by an expeditious Islamophobia that, before the 9/11 terror attacks and the crusade that followed, declassified Rohingya Muslims as citizens and sought to plunge them into the ocean.

XREF: Connects to broader scholarship on the post-9/11 global Islamophobia and its local manifestations beyond Western theaters.
