War on Terror legitimized branding Kashmir Muslims as terrorists [causal]

Islamophobia is the familiar scapegoat legitimized by the War on Terror, readapted to suit the local interests of dictators and demagogues. In fact, American researchers and hawks within the Bush administration singled out Kashmir, during the earliest stages of the War on Terror, as a site of "cross-border terrorism." That is what the War on Terror gifted to Indian imperial designs. Namely, that whenever Muslims stand in the way of ambitions of hegemony and Hindu supremacy, they can be remade, with full prejudice and without due process, into terrorists.
