Whiteness entitlement enables racial violence against indigenous peoples. [causal]

Tarrant, the terrorist who crossed the Tasman Sea from Australia and carried out New Zealand's deadliest modern terror attack, was just another "regular white man." With evil efficiency, he did what the two nations' forefathers had done to the Maoris, the Torres Strait Islanders, and the Aborigines in earlier eras. He indiscriminately murdered them, wiping them off a land that he believed was his own, not as a matter of fiat or legal status, but as a matter of blood, on account of his whiteness.

XREF: Connects to broader settler-colonial frameworks and discussions of racialized entitlement in other works on colonial violence.
