The battleground at the university brought together the returning Chicago economists. [fact]

The battleground at the university brought together the returning Chicago economists, who began to occupy leading positions in student and university bodies at CU, and the gremialistas. Many of the economists who designed the socioeconomic reforms of the post-coup period actively participated in the gremialista movement—the only radical political entity in the fight against what was perceived as a Chilean “road to socialism” inside and outside the campus (Lavín 1986; Huneeus 1998).
