The liberals’ dashed hopes partially accounted for the creation of the Association pour la Liberté Economique et le Progrès Social (ALEPS) in 1966. This organization, initially formed by André Arnoux, an industrialist who wanted to be admitted into the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques, organized every year until the middle of the 1970s a “Week of Liberal Thought” in counterpoint to the “Week of Marxist Thought.”
