Mafia members ritually introduced political figures as men of honor. [fact]

Calderone recalls: "I personally met Onorevole Calogero Volpe [a member of parliament] who was ritually introduced to me by my brother as a man of honor, in Caltanisetta, in [Volpe's] office" (AC: II, 594).

QUESTION: This raises questions about the extent of the Mafia's ties to political power in postwar Italy — Volpe was a sitting MP, not a marginal figure.
