Sicilian and American Cosa Nostra severed formal ties. [fact]
When I was in Palermo [until 1963] I learned from the talk which went on about the Cosa Nostra in North America that this organization, similar in structure to its Sicilian counterpart, had in the past been connected with it, but that relations had ceased... I also know that it used to be possible for a man of honor who migrated to the United Scares to become immediately, by virtue of his position, a member of the American Cosa Nostra. In the United States now, by contrast, I can see that a man of honor such as myself has no chance to engage in official relations with the American Cosa Nostra.
