← Trust and Power

Trust requires either natural or tacit mutual interdependencies between people. [causal]

Because contrived interdependencies of this nature are not expected, to bring them about requires open communication about them between the people concerned, and this, as we have suggested, may introduce a climate unfavourable to trust into the relationship. … The situation is different when such interdependencies already exist and can be presumed to be known, when the participants are living in a system which is familiar to both of them, so no further information about it is required, since it tacitly provides an everyday basis for mutual understanding.
