Individual-level trust theories fail to generalize across relations [causal]
I argue (in chapter 3) that certain alternative, strongly asserted individual-level accounts are implausible as general accounts of trust. They might fit some of the apparent trusting relations we see, but they do not fit many trusting relations.
XREF: Connects to broader philosophical debates about whether micro-level explanations can account for macro-level phenomena like social trust.
