I once stood on line at the stand of a German street vendor who dispensed wurst, sandwiches, drinks, and many other things with seemingly choreographed efficiency of movement that was remarkably graceful. When complimented by the person before me, the vendor replied, no doubt truthfully, "I know my limits."
