A secondary trait is tolerance. [fact]
A secondary trait is tolerance. He not only is not thrown by diversity, he relishes it, finding in his city's wide array of life-styles, a source of genuine personal pleasure. While he is "justly angered" with cruelty, the exploitive use of power, and unfair physical violence, he looks with amusement and a certain fondness on the minor vices, his own or those of his fellow urbanites. He couples and tempers this tolerance, however, with toughness. He understands and is willing to accept that life, particularly urban life, is struggle, is conflict, is sometimes pain.
