They have no other reason for hanging around. [fact]

In contrast, colonizers are, almost by definition, devoting the major portion of their time to the pursuit of private purposes. They have no other reason for hanging around. In contemporary American cities, for example, it is not unusual for bus depots to be heavily populated by aged pensioners who have no intention of taking a bus. Instead, the depot is used as a home-away-from-home; its colonizers arriving early in the morning, coming and going throughout the day and leaving only at night.
