Arab uprisings rebelled against both dictators and neoliberalism [fact]

The Arab uprisings of 2011 seems to indicate a break with the status quo of the last two or three decades. The mass movements that have developed across the region are aimed against the dictators who rule with impunity. They also are rebellions against the political and economic system known as neoliberalism. These revolts have raised fundamental questions about the character of the distribution of wealth—that is, who rules and in whose interest. A genuine solution that combines the struggles against the ravages of both capitalism and imperialism in the Middle East and elsewhere only can be forged by rebuilding the left.
